Diane Kruger there embodies an airline pilot whose life changes when she recrosses an old conquest and sinks into irrational visions… This new thriller was expected after the success of Black Box two years earlier.
Criticism is relatively divided in its opinions on Visions. Closer salutes the “dizzying sensational experience” offered by the film, when L’Obs dares to compare it with the film “Rebecca” by Alfred Hitchcock. For Télé 7 Jours, the staging “dazzles” and “holds in suspense until the vertiginous conclusion”. Le Journal du Dimanche hails a “sinuous, fragmented puzzle-like and resolutely Lynchian narrative, which installs unease and blurs temporality.”
Conversely, others, such as the specialized magazine Première, deplore the artificiality of the feature film which “overly neglects the emotional issue”, when Télérama deplores that “nothing is really original or quite plausible .” If thriller lovers should find their account, others will have to make their own opinion.
