The police were alerted just before midnight about a suspicious shooting in Angered in northern Gothenburg.
– Residents in the area have not heard any explosions as far as I understand but have discovered bullet holes in an apartment window, says Anders Wennergren, officer on duty at the police.
The police cordoned off the scene and carried out a technical investigation. Several tracks have been secured which indicate that there was a shooting at the scene.
A preliminary investigation into attempted murder and serious weapons crime has been launched.
There are no arrests or suspects.

There is a heavy fire in an apartment building in Edsbyn, Ovanåker municipality.
The emergency services were alerted to the address at 00.50 on Sunday night and are on site with several units.
– It is an extensive fire. The whole property is on fire, says Håkan Eriksson, alarm and control officer at the rescue service.

Several police cars and ambulances were called at 00:30 to a residential area south of Norrköping.
– It has been a youth party and people have been beaten. On the spot, we found that several young people had been involved and were bloody, says Linus Maxe, commanding officer at the police.
Two young people were treated by paramedics for injuries that are not classified as serious.
A preliminary investigation into assault has been launched. The young people involved were, according to the police, aged 18.
Three cars have collided on route 66 outside Ludvika.
The alarm came in shortly after 10pm on Saturday evening.
Later in the night, the police announced that three people had died. Another two have been taken to hospital.

The police are on the scene at Karlberg Castle in Stockholm after security guards raised the alarm about unauthorized people in the area.
– They have arrested two young men who they suspect of filming in the area, says Mats Eriksson, press spokesperson at the police.
The castle is a military protection object, which means that the public is not allowed access.
– You shouldn’t film there. We will check them and see what they have done, says Mats Eriksson.
The police take over the arrest, but then release the men.
A report of a breach of the Protection Act has been drawn up.
The police were alerted at 00.33 about suspected burglars in Sala backe in Uppsala.
– There is a witness who saw some guys with tools that don’t match the environment. But it is not a confirmed burglary, we have not found a crime scene, says commanding officer Anders Holm.
The police are now searching for the suspected men with, among other things, a helicopter.

75 crew and passengers rescued when New Zealand warship HMNZS Manawanui sank off Samoa tonight, reports The New Zealand Herald.
The ship ran aground on one of the reefs off Samoa on Friday and caught fire.
HMNZS Manawanui was a vessel specialized in diving and salvage missions as well as hydrographic reconnaissance.

The rescue service in Stockholm received an alarm on Saturday evening about an explosion in an apartment building in Hjulsta in northern Stockholm.
– We have established that it is a detonation that took place in a gate with shrapnel outside the gate. There is minor damage to the glass and fixture. We have searched the property and there are no injuries, says Roger Sverndal at the rescue service.
– We do not know what has exploded. Now we have backed out and let the police do their job.

Several witnesses contacted the police because two men were fighting outside in Lund on Saturday evening.
The police arrived at the scene and were able to establish that the fight started because the men had a disagreement in traffic.
A report of abuse is drawn up. The men involved are in their 25s and 40s.
Recently, Danish police announced that they will strengthen their border controls towards Sweden. In the operation, the police’s focus will be on Swedes aged 14 to 20. This was announced by the Copenhagen police chief police inspector Peter Dahl on Saturday, according to the Ritzau news agency.
– We will be on the trains. We will be in the buses, and we will stop some cars. We will do more random samples than you are used to seeing, says Peter Dahl.
The background is that there have been several cases where young Swedes have committed serious crimes in Denmark recently.
The police’s new effort will mean that travelers on trains and cars across the Öresund Bridge will be checked, and the police say that travelers should expect longer travel times to Denmark.

The police have decided that drones may be used for camera surveillance in Stockholm’s inner city on October 7.
“The police authority has made this decision as several public gatherings will be held within the surveillance area,” the police write on their website.
October 7 marks one year since Hamas carried out a coordinated attack on Israel, which was the deadliest in the country’s history.
Several demonstrations are now expected in Stockholm in connection with the anniversary of the attack.
The areas affected by the camera surveillance are Stockholm’s inner city and Östermalm.

Vaccinations against the mpox virus have begun in Congo-Kinshasa.
The country is the center of the ongoing outbreak with around 30,000 suspected cases of illness and roughly 850 deaths. At the beginning of September, the first doses of vaccine arrived in Congo-Kinshasa and on Saturday the vaccinations began.
First to receive the vaccine are hospital staff. On Monday, vaccinations will begin for the public in the eastern parts of the country.
Neighboring Rwanda began vaccinations against mpox in mid-September.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been detained at a protest in the Belgian capital Brussels.
Around 150 activists blocked a street in central Brussels on Saturday. They demanded an end to all state support for the fossil industry within the EU.
The police intervened against the activists and Thunberg and several others were detained, writes Le Soir.
The action took place at the same time as a large climate march was held in Brussels.

Several people have died trying to cross the English Channel. Among the dead was a small child, according to French authorities.
A boat carrying migrants raised the alarm on Saturday morning and 14 people, including the child, were rescued from the vessel and taken to Le Portel in northern France.
The dead child was four years old, according to Le Portel mayor Olivier Barbarin.
“The smugglers have these people’s lives on their hands and our government will intensify the fight against these gangs that enrich themselves by organizing these deadly transports,” writes French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau on X.
