Shot in the stomach during the Iran protests – forced to flee the country

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Iran’s regime forces have been heavily criticized for their excessive violence against protesters during the protests in the country. The construction worker Meisam Nadime, whom we meet on the border between Iran and Iraq, is one of those shot by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps units and forced to leave his family behind.

– We were all there and just stood there. Suddenly they started shooting at us and then we were hit. Their goal is to hurt us and then grab us and take us to unknown places. They have ambulances that say hospital ambulance. They take the injured in the ambulance and then drive to an unknown location, says Meisam Nadime, a construction worker from Iran.

Shots in stomach and legs

After Meisam had fallen to the ground—severely injured with gunshots to his stomach and leg—his friends lifted him up so regime forces were unable to take him to the ambulance. But it was too risky to stay in Iran.

– When someone is injured, the family tries to hide that person, out of fear. The pharmacies are guarded around the clock by the regime’s supporters, they check so that the medicine does not reach the injured. When they see someone fetching bandages or oxygen, you have to give your information. Many die because they cannot get the medicine they need.

Wants EU terror stamps

Meisam instead managed to cross the border into Iraqi Kurdistan where he underwent surgery. He hopes that the EU will label the Iranian Revolutionary Guards as terrorists – he has witnessed their brutality himself.

– They are terrorists, everyone knows that. It’s good if they put them on the list. The US has done it and we will be happy if European countries do it too.
