Mayor Darrin Canniff Spoke at Council Monday in the Wake of Us President Donald Trump’s Executive Orders to impose Tariffs of 25 Per Cent On Steel and Aluminum Products March 12. Earlier, He paused tariffs 25 per cent on Most Other Canadian Goods, an 10 per cent On Energy, UXT MONTH.
“Tariffs Are Going to Impact Our Community significantly,” He Said. “We have an aluminum manufacturer. . . If it gets Spread Out to Other Things, We have agriculture, we have automotive. ”
The Tariff Threat is a top community concern provincewide, Said Canniff, A Member of Several Ontario Mayoral Groups.
Many people might be wondering what they can do to help, he said.
“Shop Canadian, Shop Ontario, Local Shop,” Canniff Said, Adding That Stores Have Been Clearly Labeling Their Goods. “When you are out there, if you have a choice, make sure that you shop canadian.”

The Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (Wowc) also weighed in, with vice-chairperson Kevin Marriott, Lambton County’s Warden, Issing A Stament Tuesday.
“I want to express our nail support for the government of ontario and the government of canada as they work to navigate the challenges posed by tariffs and other trade restrictions,” he said.
“The (Caucus) recognizes that these barriers Create meaning challenges for industries that are vital to our region’s Economic Stability, Job Creation, and Long-Term Prosperity.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Said Tuesday Ottawa Will Work To Converse US President Donald Trump that “UNACCPTABLE” Steel and Aluminum Tariffs Will Hurt Both Countries.
Trudeau Added He will also be working with “International Partners and Friends and if it comes to that, our responsibility, of race, will be firm and clear.”
