It was around 20:30 on Saturday evening that the police received a call about a shooting in the residential area of Årby in northern Eskilstuna. Several shots are said to have been fired.
A person with a gunshot wound was found at the scene.
– It is a man over 18 years old. He was awake and talking when he was taken to hospital, the rest of the damage is unclear, says police spokesperson Marcus Anefur.
The shooting must have happened outdoors. The police are working at the scene to secure the evidence that is available, including collecting witness information and checking any video surveillance. The site is cordoned off for technical examination.
Several perpetrators
The perpetrators, who are said to have been several, must have departed from the scene after the incident. They are currently being sought by a larger police resource, the police write on their website.
– The priority right now is to secure the crime scene and search for the perpetrators.
The police are investigating the incident as attempted murder.
– We have no suspects or arrests at the moment, says Marcus Anefur.
