Shooting at an apartment in Uddevalla: Gangster chased by police

A family with children was shot at in an apartment in Uddevalla this weekend.
Now a police hunt is underway for a gang member who is suspected of being behind the attempted murder – and who was released from prison just a few weeks ago, according to information to TV4 Nyheterna.
– We are working intensively, says police chief Fredrik Brax.

The shooting at the apartment building in central Uddevalla took place on the night of Sunday.

Shots were fired through a window and straight into an apartment. Several people were in the home, including two children. However, no one was injured.

The police launched a major operation and, among other things, used sniffer dogs in the hunt for the shooter.

– We have carried out a lot of investigative measures since the crime took place. We have brought in a large amount of interrogations, footage and secured traces in connection with the technical investigation, says Fredrik Brax, head of the section for serious crimes in Fyrbodal.

According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the police have now succeeded in finding a suspected perpetrator in the investigation.

Gangster recently paroled

According to the information, it concerns a young man who is now wanted and arrested in his absence on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences. The man is considered to be part of one of the criminal networks in the region and is already known to the police.

He has been convicted of several crimes and was released a few weeks ago, at the end of April, from a three-year prison sentence after, among other things, a brutal kidnapping, according to documents from the Correctional Service.

– The person wanted is suspected of having committed the shooting while on parole, says a source to TV4 Nyheterna.

The police: We are hunting – investigating motive images

The police’s Fredrik Brax does not want to confirm the information but says:

– We haven’t caught anyone but continue to hunt. We are working intensively. We are investigating possible motive images, whether it is related to other events or whether it is a separate event. We have different hypotheses that we are working on to see why this has happened. Whether it is networks, gangs or something else is too early to say.

He urges witnesses to get in touch on 114 14 to leave tips.

– We are looking for all possible observations from the crime that took place sometime after 4 a.m.

The prosecutor does not want to comment on the investigation, but states that they are “actively working”.
