The trial against the three defendants started on Monday.
Two 17-year-old boys, one of whom was 16 at the time of the crime, and a 19-year-old man are on trial for the murder and the twelve attempted murders on the evening of March 21 this year.
Part of the evidence that the prosecutor presented during Monday’s district court hearing was the police’s surveillance footage from the area in Fittja.
Goes in a combined squad
They show how three people dressed in black walk together through the center shortly after 9 p.m. One is carrying a Clas Ohlson bag in his arms and another has a mobile phone in front of him and, according to the prosecutor, should be the one leading the search for the restaurant.
A few minutes later, after passing through the square and an underpass, they arrive and walk slowly, in unison, to the restaurant entrance.
The cameras then capture how one of the perpetrators takes out an automatic carbine from his bag and steps in together with his two accomplices.
Woman with pram flees
Several shots are fired in the restaurant and a 27-year-old man is hit in the rain of bullets. He dies from his injuries. Another twelve guests are close to falling victim to the shooting, according to the prosecutor.
Seconds later, the trio run out. The automatic-armed perpetrator then shoots again at the premises.
While they are fleeing and one of them has the murder weapon in his hands, he fires a shot into the underpass. Shortly afterwards, he shoots two more times in the square. The surveillance footage shows how panic breaks out among the public and several people take cover. Among other things, a woman with a pram and several small children are forced to run from there.
All three deny wrongdoing
The trial against the three defendants is expected to end on Friday. About the state of the evidence, senior prosecutor and preliminary investigation leader Niksa Lucic says:
– A solid police investigation has led to the indictment. All three were arrested shortly after the murder, near the scene of the crime, thanks to the rapid arrival of police in the area. In addition, weapons and items of clothing were found which the perpetrators are believed to have tried to dispose of. In my opinion, there is extensive technical evidence in the form of, among other things, DNA traces that link them to the crime.
All three deny wrongdoing.
