Shooting at a leisure park in Gävle – teenager injured

The police are on the scene in the district of Sätra in Gävle during Friday evening, due to the fact that the public there has heard loud bangs.

A 17-year-old boy was later found inside a leisure park with suspected gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital awake and able to speak, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

– What we believe is that they shot from the outside and entered through a door. Then whether the person was hit indoors or outdoors I can’t answer, but he was found inside the building, says Magnus Jansson Klarin, press spokesperson at the police.

According to the police, there are traces showing that shots have been fired into the recreation yard. Several people were in the building at the time, but no one else was injured.

“There must be many who have heard and seen things”

The police are investigating the incident as attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences. The location is cordoned off and information gathering is underway.

– The technicians must be on site at any time to try to secure tracks. We have flown drones around the area to document the crime scene from the air and are also looking to see if there are CCTV cameras nearby.

No one has yet been arrested in the case. The police suspect that there is more than one perpetrator and are very interested in the public’s observations.

– The first alarm came in at 19.39 and so early in the evening there should be many who heard and saw things. Even before the event, you may have observed something that stands out. We are interested in both small and large observations, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.

– We suspect that this is connected to the criminal conflict in Gävle.
