Hell Let Loose has shown a trailer for the Devotion to Duty update, which fans think is so bad that the developers apologized.
What is this shooter?
Which trailer is it about? A few gaming events like the Summer Game Fest took place in June, where numerous trailers were shown. Including the “PC Gaming Show 2023”. There, Team 17 showed a new trailer for Hell Let Loose, which introduced the upcoming update “Devotion to Duty”.
Part of the update is said to be a new game mode that is shorter and faster than the usual “Hell Let Loose” matches and only includes 25 players per team. In the standard mode, up to 100 players compete against each other on historical locations.

What are the players saying about the trailer? The Hell Let Loose community is anything but enthusiastic about the trailer and makes a hard judgment. Some find the trailer downright ugly, others embarrassing. In general, there is a lot of criticism (via YouTube):
In general, the mood in the community is currently not so rosy. Also, the most recent rating on Steam is only 57% – that’s very low considering the strong 86% that Hell Let Loose has garnered over the past few years.
Many fans accuse the development team of not being interested in the game. One player even wrote on Steam: “This was one of those ‘diamonds in the rough’ games […] but it’s time to realize that the developers/publishers (Team17) don’t care about this game.”
Hell Let Loose also has really cool or at least less failed trailers:
Developers apologize: “We’re sorry”
What do the developers say? After the sharp criticism of the new trailer, the developers are now commenting. In a statement published on Steam, they write that they are sorry and apologize for the disappointment:
We’re sorry. We were hoping to present an exciting and compelling trailer for our next update, Devotion to Duty, but unfortunately we didn’t live up to expectations. We understand that you have been eagerly awaiting the trailer, and we deeply apologize for the disappointment, frustration and sense of disappointment in the community.

In the statement, the development team also addresses the current generally difficult state of the game and says they are working on improving the gaming experience, but are making slower progress with the core gameplay and meta than planned. In the future you want to learn better from the feedback of the players.
Not only is the anti-Battlefield in a difficult position, the real Battlefield has also been struggling to win back its disappointed fans since its release. At least the new season trailer is well received:
