Former CS:GO pro shroud shares his first thoughts on Counter-Strike 2 and believes the new smokes aren’t good for your FPS.
Who is the person you are talking about?
What is shroud talking about? Valve officially announced Counter-Strike 2, an update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, on March 22nd. Of course, as a former CS:GO professional, shroud immediately responded to the announcement in a Twitch stream and shared some initial thoughts.
The streamer first talks about the video with the new smokes. These now react to shots, explosions and objects on the map. They also completely fill rooms and are now “volumetric”.
If you haven’t seen the new Smokes video from Counter-Strike 2 yet, we’ll embed it here:
“Nice to meet you Framerate”
What does shroud say about the new smokes? The streamer believes your frames-per-second (FPS) may suffer from the new smokes. His first reaction was, “Volumetric, oh volumetric. Bye bye FPS, bye bye. It was nice meeting you Framerate.”
However, while shroud thinks the FPS might suffer, he still thinks the new smoke grenades look very nice:
Okay, the smokes look damn awesome, but bye bye FPS anyways, this is going to hurt. Luckily, Counter-Strike is already running great, so it’s not a big deal. It’s just that if you’re already having problems, you’re going to have more problems, and that sucks.
If you’re worried about your frame rate now, the streamer might give you hope that it won’t be as bad as he first thought. Finally, with the “Counter-Strike 2” update, the frame rate could be improved in general.
In addition, shroud likes that grenades can now remove smoke with the explosion and can be used as a counter to smokes. But he doesn’t like the fact that shots also tear holes in the smoke.
You can also see shroud’s complete reaction to the new smoke grenades and the streamer’s opinion on Counter-Strike 2 in a YouTube video on his channel:
What’s shroud’s reaction after his first round? Of course, shroud is also one of the selected people who can play Counter-Strike 2 before the release in a test phase that is already running.
After wrapping up his first match in Counter-Strike 2, the streamer tells his viewers on Twitch that the CS:GO update feels a lot smoother than he thought it would.
Incidentally, you can continue to use your expensive CS:GO skins in Counter-Strike 2. So it doesn’t matter if you just left the value of a sports car in the tactical shooter:
