Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic commented on the allegations regarding the assassination plot put forward by Srdjan Lalic, who was a witness at the trial of Serbian gang leader Veljko Belivuk.
Vucic said that the authorities had obtained evidence of the assassination in question and knew who planned the assassination, and used the following statements:
“There is evidence of a plot to assassinate me. There will be new ones to come. There are also new data downloaded from phones. There is talk of plans to attack me.”
While Serbian media reports claimed that the assassination was planned during the opening of the Stefan Nemanja Monument in Belgrade’s Sava Square, Vucic said that all snipers and special forces under his command were on duty on the opening day and refused to wear steel vests.
Vucic said, “I don’t even think of hiding from my own people. As long as I’m alive, I will mix with the public and I will never use a steel vest.”
