In Israel, the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah is underway, an annual holiday where you celebrate reading the Torah in the previous year and now start anew.
Usually this day is celebrated with gifts, dancing and sweets. This year something else is happening that will shake the whole world. The terrorist group Hamas launches a shocking attack on Israel that has cost hundreds of lives on both sides.
Shlomi: “Lots of bodies everywhere”
At 06:30 in the morning, the country’s inhabitants, and with them Shlomi who lives in Sderot, a city in the western Negev desert, are woken up by airplane alarms and explosions.
– I looked up what was happening online and saw that terrorists had infiltrated the country, he says.
– I went out and saw dead terrorists, dead Israelis, blown up cars. And a sea of bodies. Inside Sderot along the roads, lots of bodies everywhere.
