Skellefteå has signed Kenny Agostino – from the KHL.
It makes Luleå star Linus Omark go crazy.

Skellefteå has received a lot of criticism within hockey Sweden in recent days, after the announcement that the club signed 31-year-old Kenny Agostino. During his career, Agostino has played 86 games in the NHL, several seasons in the AHL – but what stands out above all is that he now comes from two seasons in the KHL.
Great criticism
Skellefteå had previously pushed through a decision at an annual meeting not to sign anyone who signed a contract in the KHL after February 24, 2022. Agostino signed his contract with the KHL team in December 2021, i.e. before the war broke out, and he will , according to Skellefteå, tried to break his contract without success. This means that he is now moving directly from the KHL to Skellefteå, something the club has been strongly criticized for.
And not everyone buys that the player did everything to break his contract in Russia. Linus Omark, who is back in the SHL and Luleå after a successful season in Switzerland, now directs sharp criticism at both the player and Skellefteå.
– I think it is wrong of them to take him in. They (Skellefteå) have tried to twist and turn it around. But the thing about not being able to get out of the contract is just bullshit, says Linus Omark to Norrbottens Kuriren.

Paying tribute to the rival
Linus Omark also takes the opportunity to pay tribute to another SHL rival, namely Modo, who according to information has been offered the forward, but turned it down, on the grounds that he played in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine began.
– I understand that Modo turned down the same player, I think they should be praised for that, he says.
Before the coming season, Skellefteå has lost two key cogs in Joakim Lindström, who ended his career, and Oscar Möller, who took time out due to mental illness. Kenny Agostino became, with the signing of Skellefteå, the first player to move directly from the KHL to the SHL, since the war broke out.
During Wednesday, information also came from Aftonbladet that Agostino agreed with Växjö last year – but that he then withdrew in order to earn more money in Russia instead.
