Shipwreck on the North Sea – several missing

The cargo ships Polesie and Verity have collided 22 kilometers southwest of the German island of Heligoland in the southeastern North Sea. The collision must have happened at 05:00 this morning.

At least one person has been rescued from the water, but several people are still missing, according to German media. Exactly how many are missing is unclear.

Several rescue boats are searching for the missing people and more boats are on their way.

The island is located approximately 70 kilometers off the coast of Schleswig-Holstein.
