The Danish Defense Forces confirm to the newspaper that it is two cargo ships, one of which was on its way to Russian Saint Petersburg, which collided in a busy shipping lane.
– The crew has not been evacuated. We sent ships out and decided to stop ships to see if there was a leak and if it is seaworthy, says Jens Hensen, officer on duty at the Danish Defense Forces, to Aftonbladet.
The Russian ship is currently anchored off the Danish island of Anholt, where the collision took place.
The Swedish coast guard is also involved in the effort. Among other things, they have deployed a surveillance plane that circulates over the site.
