Sheila Fox was found 52 years after she disappeared

One of the oldest missing persons investigations in the UK has been solved.
With the help of an old photo, Sheila Fox was found – 52 years after she disappeared.
“Every missing person has a story, and their families and friends deserve to know what happened to them,” says Jenna Shaw from the police’s cold case unit.

Sheila Fox disappeared when she was 16 years old from the British city of Coventry. At the time, she lived with her parents and was with a man.

Police long believed she might have moved from the area, but never found her.

Found after only a few hours

However, the disappearance was solved when the police’s cold case team found a grainy old photo of her and appealed to the public for help.

– We searched through all the evidence we could find and managed to find a photo of Sheila, says Jenna Shaw from the police’s cold case team in a statement.

The photo was published on the police’s social media and website and they appealed to the public for help in finding her. It only took a few hours before people came forward that led to the police being able to locate Sheila Fox.

– We are incredibly happy that we managed to find Sheila after five decades, says Jenna Shaw.

Had moved to another part of the country

The police have spoken to her and confirm that she is alive and well. She had only moved to another part of the country, just as the police feared in connection with her disappearance.

“Every missing person has a story, and their families and friends deserve to know what happened to them,” says Jenna Shaw from the police’s cold case unit.
