In 1994 the first episode of the German soap Unter uns was broadcast. 30 years have passed since then and RTL is planning an anniversary week. A special event should be the focus and a popular series character should return with special technology.
Production relies on AI technology to bring back fan favorite Among Us
For the 30th anniversary, the focus is on the Weigel family. The late Margot Weigel returns and plays a crucial role in the plot. The actress who played Margot Weigel, Christiane Maybach, died in 2006. The character also died a serial death. Instead of recasting the role for the comeback, the production decided to Bringing Margot Weigel back to life using artificial intelligence. The young Margot Weigel, seen in flashbacks, is embodied by Isabel Dornheim.
For the AI technology, the production company uses the Ukrainian software company Respeecher. According to producer Guido Reinhardt, the development effort for a daily soap is not possible without AI. The series team will use AI and chatbots to develop ideas and AI-based programs such as Adobe Firefly will also be used in post-production.
