Linda Dahl from Olofström can now call herself pastry chef of the year. With her “culinary masterpieces” for baked goods, she won this year’s competition, which was decided on Friday at the Stockholm Fair in Älvsjö.
The theme of the competition was “old school” and consisted of three different parts. The four finalists had seven hours to create four cakes, twelve éclairs (oblong petit-chous bars) and ten confections.
Linda Dahl’s contribution with flavors of, among other things, black currants, gooseberries, apples and punch appealed to the jury and was described as “culinary masterpieces” when the winner’s motivation was read out.
“The winner’s work is characterized by a unique precision, great respect for raw materials, and an ability to lift and combine pure, balanced flavors with outstanding textures. Through the pastries flows a strong glow and a deep understanding of the core of the pastry profession – a true inspiration and a worthy winner,” the justification continued.
“I think that my tastes combined with my craftsmanship was what took me to the gold. Now I am incredibly looking forward to wearing the title of pastry chef of the year in 2023,” says the winner himself in a comment.
It was the first time Linda Dahl, who on weekdays works as a pastry chef at Operakällaren in Stockholm, participated in the competition. In second place came Hampus Fors from Gothenburg and in third Montadar Kanbar from Järfälla.
