Star actress of the film Basic Instincts, Sharon Stone has millions of subscribers on social networks. The actress usually uses these to share her daily life, but on November 1, the star made a more special announcement.

Who doesn’t know Sharon Stone? The actress, famous for her footwork in the film Basic Instincts, continues to be talked about through her social networks, often to talk about her daily life and sometimes, like last November 1, to talk about more serious subjects.

    Diagnostic error

On her Twitter and Instagram accounts, Sharon Stone took the floor to recount the intense pain she experienced in recent months, before she was diagnosed with a tumor. The 64-year-old actress explains that she was the victim of a misdiagnosis. “I have just been misdiagnosed again and had another bad medical procedure. This time, two epidurals,” explains the star.

Sharon Stone suffers from a benign tumor

As the pains “intensified”, Sharon Stone chose to take a second medical opinion. It was there that the doctors discovered the origin of his illness. “I have a large fibrous tumor that needs to be removed,” the actress explains in English. The expression she uses refers to different benign tumors: it can be a uterine fibroid or another fibroid tumor.

    Not to give up

Sharon Stone therefore encourages women not to give up in the face of pain. “Ladies. Don’t let the doctors send you packing. Ask for a second opinion. It can save your life,” she says.

Sharon Stone also takes advantage of this moment to recall through an article that women are much more victims of misdiagnoses than men, because their symptoms and their pain are often neglected by the medical profession. The actress then talks about her recovery which will last between four and six weeks and reassures her fans by telling them that “everything is fine”.

The opinion of Dr Gérald Kierzek, emergency doctor and medical director of Doctissimo

Asked about the question of the second medical opinion, Dr. Gérald Kierzek also thinks that it is an important step. “It’s always infuriating to be faced with a diagnostic error. You have the impression of being “badly treated”, no pun intended. It is therefore sometimes completely legitimate to take a second opinion, without this is not a problem for doctors” he explains. “It is the role of the attending physician to coordinate all of this, and the benefit/risk balance of a surgical procedure, for example, should be discussed with the patient, in consultation” adds Dr. Kierzek. The other side of the coin? “We have to talk about it, otherwise it would be to break the trust between the two protagonists when it is the very foundation of the relationship between the doctor and his patient.“.
