Following her stroke, the 64-year-old actress received several hundred injections. What are the dangers of this practice? And what is the dosage to respect? The explanations of Dr. David Picovski.
At 64, Sharon Stone continues to be considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. But the American superstar readily admits it: she had recourse to injections of Botox and fillers (hyaluronic acid) to counter the effects of passing time.
More than 300 injections
In a recent interview with Vogue Arabia, the star admitted to having long been a fan of cosmetic surgery, and more specifically of Botox injections and fillers:
” There were ‘super celebrity’ periods where I had Botox injections and fillers and then I had this massive stroke and nine day brain hemorrhage “, she explains, before adding ” I had to have over 300 Botox and filler injections to lift one side of my face.e”, reveals the star, who had to undergo a real facial reconstruction.
Since this incident, which occurred in 2001, Sharon Stone has taken another look at aesthetic medicine: surgery has gone from a “luxury product” to a “massive and painful neurological need”.
In fact, the film producer no longer wishes to undergo operations for “aesthetic purposes”.
An “excess” of surgery that does not frighten other stars of the small and big screen: Karine Le Marchand thus recently entrusted to Femme Actuelle to have already yielded to the call of the scalpel.
“I am against this hypocrisy which consists in telling women that they have to stay young and beautiful, but never doing anything ‘otherwise it doesn’t feel natural’. Me, I had surgery, and I assume it !”, she revealed.
Too much botox and hyaluronic acid: what consequences?
“They are less. When the botox injections are correctly dosed and sufficiently spaced out, the risk of toxicity is very low. The only problem that can be encountered is in the area of efficiency,” assures Dr. Picovski.
As for filling injections (fillers) based on hyaluronic acid, ” the main risk is to be disfigured in case of excess “, indicates the cosmetic surgeon.
” Even if it is minimal, the risk of infection also increases as the injections progress. “.
Another potential physical damage from “overbotoxing”: performed in the wrong place and in the wrong quantity, an injection can lead to paralysis of the eyelid lifter muscles, also called “droopy eyelid”.
