Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan had a meeting with his American counterpart Antony Blinken as part of his Washington contacts with members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League Contact Group. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also made a statement about the critical meeting.

In his post on the social media platform X, Blinken reminded that he met with Fidan in Washington.

Regarding the meeting, Blinken said, “With Fidan, we discussed the Israel-Hamas conflict, efforts to ensure that the conflict does not spread to other places in the region, the need to release the remaining hostages and the provision of humanitarian aid.” he said. In his post, Blinken also emphasized the importance of approving Sweden’s NATO membership without delay.

FIDAN ALSO MADE A STATEMENT

Foreign Minister Fidan, in his statement after the meeting, said, “We are very clearly bringing up our position regarding the situation in Gaza to our American interlocutors. We underline very clearly the seriousness of the situation here, that there is no more tolerance, and what steps need to be taken in this regard, and tell them ( We expressed it to the USA.” He used the following expressions: Stating that they also discussed the issue of Sweden’s NATO membership during their meeting with Blinken, Fidan said, “Of course, our position is clear here, that is, as a result of the negotiations held in NATO, our President and the Swedish Prime Minister were at the tripartite summit, and as a result, there are issues we are working on.” He said and emphasized that the next decision lies with the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
