The artist Shane MacGowan, singer of the band The Pogues, is dead, writes Sky News.
The band is known, among other things, for their big Christmas hit “Fairytale of New York”. The Pogues have also made songs like “Dirty Old Town” and “The Irish Rover”.
“It is impossible to describe the loss I feel and the longing for just one more of his smiles that lit up my world,” said his wife Victoria Mary Clarke in a statement.
Shane MacGowan has battled several health issues in recent years.
He lived to be 65 years old.
