SFR is opening several express repair workshops allowing its customers to have their smartphone repaired directly in store in less than an hour! An original formula that avoids purchasing a new device urgently.
One of the reasons that most people decide to buy a new smartphone is a breakdown. A particularly annoying phenomenon, because we then find ourselves deprived of an absolutely essential tool for daily life. In this type of situation, we have two choices: buy a new device or entrust the old one to a repairer. This therefore means spending several days, even several weeks, without the precious phone. However, not everyone is lucky enough to have a backup device during this time.
Fortunately, SFR comes to the aid of poor souls in distress by launching an initiative that it describes as“unpublished”. As reported Made in Marseillethe group has just inaugurated three “express repair shops” in stores located in Paris, Marseille and Nantes. The operator’s customers will be able to go there to have their smartphone repaired in less than an hour!
SFR repair: one hour flat
The principle of express repair workshops is simple: smartphone owners can go to the store, with or without an appointment, in order to receive a diagnosis and thus assess the cost of the repair. It costs at least 49 euros to replace a battery or a camera and 74 euros for a screen replacement. Once the cost of the repair has been validated by the customer – who will be entitled to a 12-month warranty – the teams will take care of restoring the device.
SFR highlights the time savings this represents. Indeed, competing operators, such as Orange or Bouygues, offer repair services in partnership with specialized companies, within a time frame that can range from two hours to several days. Plus, it’s not directly in store.
SFR repair: extending the life of smartphones
SFR’s approach is also ecological, since it aims to encourage the repair of the device rather than its replacement with a new one. This involves extending the lifespan of terminals, when 95% of the population now owns a smartphone and its lifespan is only 2.5 years.
Because the perpetual renewal of a device has a significant cost, both in terms of resources used and waste. Its production is the most polluting phase of its existence, due to the extraction of raw materials, which makes it responsible for part of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. This is why equipment must be used for a long time so that its environmental impact is as low as possible. “Keeping your smartphone for two additional years allows you to halve your carbon footprint”estimates Isabelle Simon, the SFR regional delegate for the PACA region.
Currently, SFR guarantees that 90% of devices can be repaired within one hour. Ultimately, depending on the success of the initiative, it could be deployed more widely across the country’s 600 stores.
