SFR is joining forces with Europ Assistance to offer a self-monitoring offer. On the program: five easy-to-install, low-cost pieces of equipment, with a no-obligation subscription. How to compete with Free?

At the moment, SFR seems to be precisely following in Free’s footsteps. Last March, a month after Xavier Niel’s announcements and the presentation of its new Freeboxes, the operator decided to align part of its prices with those of its competitor and to lower the others (see our article) . He’s doing it again! Two weeks after the launch of Free’s connected security offer with Quiara, SFR unveiled, on Tuesday April 9, a new self-monitoring offer called “Secure Home”, in partnership with Europ Assistance, a French company specializing in safety of travelers and the elderly. It is therefore also attacking a market hitherto dominated by two major players, Verisure and Homiris, which the ISPs intend to compete with.

And they could well succeed, given the high prices in force! Just to purchase the necessary equipment, you have to spend on average between 500 and 1,000 euros – it all depends on the quote and the client’s negotiating skills – to which must be added several hundred euros for installation, not to mention the remote monitoring subscription, which includes a commitment period. Here, on the contrary, SFR customers will be able to benefit from attractive rates. But to succeed, the operator is trying a slightly different approach.

SFR Secure Home: alerts at the slightest intrusion

The offer consists of a pack comprising five products:

  • A Full HD Wi-Fi camera with 90° wide angle, equipped with a motion detection system and night vision;
  • A motion detector, to be fixed to the ceiling and to a wall, with a viewing angle of 100° and a range of 80 meters;
  • Two door or window opening detectors which, placed in a high-traffic area, alert at the slightest opening;
  • A security center equipped with a battery capable of lasting around ten hours and an integrated 4G relay, practical for taking over in the event of a power or Internet outage.

This pack costs €121, or €1 upon purchase then €5 per month for 24 months. Note that it is entirely possible to add other accessories to the surveillance service, such as a smoke detector (€35), the siren (€39), remote controls (€19 per model) or a keyboard and badges to deactivate the alarm (€49). Any additional Wi-Fi camera costs €39. Count €19 for the opening detector, €35 for the smoke detector and €25 for the motion detector. All equipment can be controlled from the SFR Maison application. As with Free’s Qiara equipment, the installation of the equipment can be done independently, without the assistance of a technician.

SFR Secure Home: a self-monitoring solution

The pack allows you to monitor your home live and be alerted in real time in the event of an intrusion. The camera films 24 hours a day, and the user can view what is happening at any time, live, with recording that can be triggered manually or automatically for motion detection. The video stream is stored on the cloud and viewable over a rolling period of 30 days. At the slightest anomaly, they receive a report in real time by notification, call, SMS or email. It is even possible to enter up to two different recipients for these alerts. You can then contact a loved one, the police if necessary, or even Europ Assistance in just a few clicks, via pre-configured shortcuts.

The subscription allows you to be assisted with the installation and use of the equipment, but also to benefit from the intervention of a CNAPS approved security agent on simple request, in the event of suspicion of intrusion, at no additional cost. . This security service can be kept for a period of 24 hours. Likewise, Europ Assistance covers certain costs (repair of openings, insurance excess). Thus, the Secure Home offer is the opposite of Qiara’s remote monitoring offer offered to Freebox subscribers; here it is self-monitoring, and not remote monitoring. Thus, you must contact assistance yourself, by means of a call, to dispatch a security agent near your home; the request for the agent is not managed by the service directly. The Secure Home subscription costs 14.99 euros/month, without commitment. Thanks to the exclusive partnership, SFR box customers are entitled to an offer of 9.99 euros/month, always without commitment. A price to add in addition to the purchase price of the pack. This is a little more expensive than what the Qiara Plus subscription offers.
