Sex assault investigations underway in Simcoe, Tillsonburg: OPP

Norfolk OPP are investigating a reported sexual assault along the Lynn Valley Trail in Simcoe.

The assault took place at shortly after 7 pm on Wednesday, March 27 near Simson Avenue in Simcoe, police said in a media release.

Police say the victim was sexually assaulted by an unknown person while walking along the trail. It’s believed the suspect then fled on foot.

There was no description of the suspect.

“Trail users and residents in the area are urged to be vigilant of their surroundings and to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the police immediately,” said OPP Const. Andrew Gamble.

The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit is reaching out to the public for assistance in the ongoing investigation.

Anyone who was traveling along the Lynn Valley Trail near Simson Ave. between 5 and 8 pm on Wednesday, and may have witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.

Sexual assault in Tillsonburg

Police are turning to members of the public for assistance as part of a sexual assault investigation in the town of Tillsonburg.

Oxford OPP say police received a report of a sexual assault that happened on St. Patrick’s Day at a licensed establishment on Durham St.

The assault occurred between 7 p.m., and 9:30 p.m., police said.

No description of a suspect was available.
