The visit was made in July after the county administrative board received an anonymous report.
The dog was outside and the county administrative board decided to take care of the dog. This when the owner could not be reached and they could ascertain that the dog was in very bad condition.
Dried feces and fly larvae eggs
The dog was taken to a veterinarian where it was examined by a veterinarian. There it was established that it had a number of untreated medical conditions. These included eye and ear infections and it was severely limping. The dog was also full of tangles, had dried faeces and fly larvae eggs in the fur, and breathing was heavy, which was thought to be due to fluid in the lungs.
When the dog was judged to be in constant pain, the vet judged that it was not acceptable in terms of animal welfare to let the dog live on. The County Administrative Board made the decision to euthanize the same day.
