The municipality of Ljusdal has gone into emergency mode following the information that a former employee at the preschool has exposed nine young girls to sexual abuse.
– I want to warn that what we are going to tell you will be very difficult to hear, said municipal director Mikael Björk at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
It was during Tuesday as the guardian of nine children in Ljusdal municipality were contacted by the police to receive notification that their children had been sexually abused.
According to the police, the incidents took place at the municipal preschools where the perpetrator was employed. The assaults must have taken place between the years 2018 and 2024.
The municipality of Ljusdal has gone into staff mode and a special support group for victims has been established.
– The most important mission we have now is to offer help and support for the children and guardians and also our staff. This is a trauma for the municipality of Ljusdal and it will take time to heal, says municipal director Mikael Björk at a press conference on Wednesday.
No charges will be brought
The perpetrator is deceased and no charges will be brought.
– We are not conducting a criminal investigation due to the fact that the suspect is deceased, and no charges will be brought either, says Emma Vangstad, group leader at the police, during the press conference.
