Several Swedish departures affected after power outages on Heathrow

It was late on Thursday evening that it started burning in a transformer station in London. This led to a major power outage at Heathrow, one of the world’s busiest airports. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The airport is now closed throughout the Friday day. Travelers are asked to contact their airline for more information.

Swedavia’s website shows several canceled departures to London, from Arlanda and Landvetter.

Flights have to be led if

“Travelers are recommended to contact their airline or tour operator for questions about their trip,” writes Ellen Laurin, Deputy Press Manager at Swedavia, in an email to SVT.

The site Flightradar24 writes on X that at least 1,350 flights are affected to and from Heathrow, and that it does not include consequential delays.

They write that about 120 planes are in the air and would land on Heathrow, but that they must now be redirected.
