Several fires broke out on Thursday evening in central Trollhättan. A parking garage, an abandoned townhouse and nearly 20 cars were set on fire.
The police suspect that the fires were started in a coordinated action, but no one has been arrested or is suspected of the crimes.
– The alarm was received at 22.30 and the fires were a bit scattered but quite close to each other, which makes us suspect that it may be a coordinated action but we dare not speculate on what has happened, says Göran Carlbom, duty officer at the police region West.
Several cars were set on fire along with a parking garage and an uninhabited townhouse. Despite the heavy fires, no one was injured.
– The terraced house turned out to be a demolition property that the rescue service burned down, but several apartments near the parking garage have had to be evacuated due to the smoke, says Göran Carlbom.
At 01 o’clock, the fires were virtually extinguished, but shortly afterwards there were further alarms about three cars that were set on fire in a residential area.
– We do not know if it has a connection, it is too early to say, says Göran Carlbom.
However, there have been no riots or riots in Trollhättan during the night.
The cases are classified as aggravated arson and vandalism by fire and the areas will be cordoned off for technical investigation.
At 01 o’clock, the rescue service was still at the parking garage and the terraced house with two units.
– There is no risk of spreading, but we are still there for safety, says Mona Hedhman, officer on duty at the rescue service in Trollhättan.
