On Thursday morning, a large load of potatoes was tipped off the bridge over the Great Belt in Denmark. A motorist witnessed and followed the driver, who was then arrested.
The driver is suspected of endangering the life and safety of the public. At the same time, Danish police are investigating other potato incidents.
On the E45 road between Skærup and Kolding in Jutland there were reports of potatoes on the road in the morning and near the bridge over the Great Belt potatoes had been dropped or tipped off in another place.
– Now we will investigate whether the potatoes have been tipped off on purpose and whether there may be a connection between the various incidents, says police spokesperson Sunniva Pedersen-Reng.
On Thursday, the Norwegian parliament is considering a bill on a new road toll for trucks, which Danish drivers and drivers previously protested strongly against, including by blocking highways.
But a spokesman for the protesters denies that the potato incidents have anything to do with discontent over the toll.
