Positions have been taken after the European football association Uefa opened to admit Russian youth teams in tournaments already this season.
— We will not see a Danish national team play against a Russian national team – regardless of age. I want to underline that. DBU’s position is the same as it has always been, says the head of communications in the Danish Football Association, Jakob Høyer, to Ritzau.
The same message was given by England’s football association, and now also Ukraine’s.
“The UAF confirms that we do not intend to participate in any tournaments that also include Russian teams,” Ukraine’s football federation said in a statement, also calling on Uefa member states to boycott matches against Russian teams.
Uefa believes that minors should not be deprived of their right to international football. Russia is otherwise banned from international football participation due to the invasion of Ukraine.
Uefa has not yet made a decision to allow Russian youth teams.
