Several municipalities are forced to close preschools: “Extremely bad”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Reduced children’s litters and savings requirements cause many municipalities to close preschools. In Hörby in Scania, the Sagolandet preschool is threatened with closure – even though it was only two years since it opened. It has prompted parents to start a petition.

– We have received a great response from parents who are worried that their children’s security is being taken away from them. We have to make ourselves heard simply and say that this is not acceptable, says parent Azra Pavlica.

Azra’s three-year-old daughter Alma was enrolled, and the municipality then said that the preschool would remain for at least five years. And Hörby is not alone in closing preschool departments. After several years of increased numbers of children in Sweden, the number of pre-school children is now decreasing again, with the consequence that pre-schools are closing down in many places.

– There are forecasts about that, so it is quite easy to see how many parents there are in the municipality, the age and who have children who will be enrolled. It is extremely bad, says the father Semir Pavlica.

Where Alma and her little brother Alen will be allowed to go if their preschool is closed, her parents do not know today.
