According to the prosecutor Christer B Jarlås, the men must have caused extra great suffering to a bullet-injured bear that they hunted with a scooter so that it was incited to jump down a precipice of 10-15 meters.
The men are suspected of having violated several of the county board’s conditions for protective hunting.
– There are several points in the evidence that show how they have erred in this hunt for protection, says Jarlås.
All deny wrongdoing
All four deny the crime on both charges. In questioning, one of the people says that communication with the county administrative board was lacking and that there had been a misunderstanding.
– It was strange behavior from the county board all the way. The nature ranger didn’t call me even though he had a lot of questions, he called his boss instead, says one of the suspected men.
– The communication with the county administrative board is of extremely minor importance as I see it, says defender Sven Severin.
The men were already indicted in October 2022 for serious hunting offences, but the trial had to be postponed and instead continues for the next few days, starting today, Tuesday.
