Several dead in typhoon devastation in the Philippines News

The Philippines has already been battered by six typhoons during the month.

At least eight people have been confirmed dead in the grip of Typhoon Man-yi in the Philippines.

Seven people died when a storm-triggered landslide buried a house in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. As it moved across the Philippines, the storm left entire cities without power and forced 700,000 people to leave their homes.

Man-yi was already the sixth typhoon to hit the Philippines in less than a month. More than a million people suffer from the consequences of that and the two previous storms.

Almost 8,000 houses have been destroyed or damaged. More than 100 cities suffer from power outages due to power poles cut by the storm.

In total, the successive storms have killed around 170 people and affected the lives of nine million others.
