Several bodies have been found by emergency services in the Valencia region of Spain following the devastating floods that hit the eastern and southern parts of the country as a result of heavy rains.
– We can confirm that some bodies have already been found, said Carlos Mazon, president of the region to reporters early Wednesday.
In the region of Castile-La Mancha, six people are missing and rescue workers in Letur, one of its municipalities, searched the area overnight using drones.
During yesterday, a high-speed train derailed near Málaga with close to 300 people on board, although no one is said to have been injured.
The Spanish government set up a crisis committee late on Tuesday with the task of taking the measures deemed necessary.
“Exercise great caution and avoid unnecessary travel,” writes Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in a post on X, adding that he is following the situation “with great concern.”
