At least 15 people, mainly women and children, have died after a landslide in western Uganda, reports the Red Cross. Several people are still missing, but according to the organization it is still unclear how many are involved.

The landslide was caused by heavy rain and occurred in the town of Kasese on Wednesday. Several homes are said to have been destroyed in the landslide and the rescue work continued in the late afternoon.

Uganda has been hit by several powerful downpours recently. Three people died after heavy rainfall in the Bundibugyo area last week and at least 22 people died in the eastern part of the country in a flood at the end of July.
