During the night, Israeli forces carried out new attacks on the city of Rafah in Gaza. 13 people, nine of them children, have been killed, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

Attacks on Rafah have been carried out almost daily recently.

In the border town, over half of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million people have sought refuge from fighting in other parts of Gaza. Israel has previously said a ground offensive will be carried out in the hard-fought city despite international calls for restraint.

In the first attack overnight Sunday, a couple and their child were killed, and in the second attack, eight children and two women from the same family were killed, according to hospital reports.

On Saturday, there were reports that nine people had been killed in a family, among them five children.

The war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7 last year when Hamas, branded as a terrorist, attacked Israel. According to Israel, Hamas is still holding around 100 hostages and the remains of more than 30 others.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will continue the war until Hamas is crushed and all hostages are handed over.
