Several children arrested in drug bust: Parents have poor knowledge

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

This weekend, the police in Partille carried out what they describe as an “offensive operation” after several tips about ongoing drug sales in the area.

In the crackdown, it was discovered that the majority of those arrested on suspicion of drug sales were under 15, of which the youngest was 13.

But the problem is spread all over the country, according to the police.

– It’s serious. Very serious, says Robert Björklund, who works as a municipal police officer in Partille.

The children are not of legal age and one theory is that criminal gangs take advantage of this fact. According to the police, drug dealers have not gotten younger, but they have become more numerous.

– I think that social media makes it much easier to get information and establish negative contacts, says Robert Björklund.

The police are now working to spread more knowledge to parents about drugs and how they can be alert to pick up different signals.

– When we have had contact with parents, it turns out that they have poor knowledge of what to keep an eye on, says Björklund.
