A teenage boy has died after a traffic accident two kilometers southeast of Hässleholm, the police say. A total of seven young people between the ages of 15 and 19 were involved in the accident and several are injured, some of them critically.

Life-threateningly injured

The alarm about the accident on road 2004, near Östra Ejaröd, came shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The car ran into a tree and several of the young people were trapped in the vehicle.

– We have one deceased, a 17-year-old boy. We have some victims who have minor injuries, at least two of them. For some of them, the condition is critical and someone is completely unharmed, says police spokesperson Evelina Olsson to TT at 19:00.

From Region Skåne, it is reported this evening that at least one of the young people has life-threatening injuries.

Complicated rescue work

All the injured were taken to hospital by ambulance. Both the police and emergency services have a very large effort on site.

– There were seven people in the car when the accident occurred. We have had a rather complicated rescue work here. There have been people who have been stuck, says rescue leader Dan Svensson.

Investigate crimes

The police are classifying the incident as an accident at the moment, but will investigate whether a crime may be behind the collision. The car must be impounded for a technical examination.

– Now we have also decided to send up our drones to document this accident scene, says Evelina Olsson. We will also hear these young people as far as possible, in hospital, says Evelina Olsson.
