Brantford police said Wednesday that seven suspected stolen vehicles have been pulled from Mohawk Lake.

“Initial investigation found no evidence to suspect these vehicles were involved with any other crime,” police said in a news release.

“As these vehicles are believed to be stolen, this is being treated as a property crime investigation.”

Police said the vehicles were recovered April 8 with the help of the Ontario Provincial Police dive team.

All the vehicles are 1970s models.

Brantford police spokesperson Robin Matthews-Osmond said the vehicles were spotted while the OPP was conducting an unrelated investigation last week at Mohawk Lake.

Police believe they have now recovered all the vehicles from the water.

They are: a 1975-77 red AMC Pacer, a brown 1972-75 Ford Cortina, a blue 1970-75 blue Chevrolet C10 truck, a green 1978 Plymouth Caravelle, a white 1977 Chrysler Cordoba, a 1970-75 white Pontiac GTX and a blue 1970-75 Buick Riviera.

Police said all the vehicles had “sustained significant damage as a result of being submerged in the water for what appears to be an extended period of time.”
