Pre-grow your plants

The reason why some seeds should be pre-grown has to do with the development time of the plants. Some simply take longer to germinate and grow. Seeds that should be sown at the beginning of the year are usually flowers and vegetables that originally come from a warmer climate than we have in the north. These seeds should therefore be grown indoors to give them a chance to cope with the Nordic climate when the warm days of spring come.

Tips for success with your plants

  • Sunlight – as soon as the plants are above ground, it is important that they have access to light. Too much darkness can cause the plant to get off to a bad start and become weak.
  • Wait out the frost – do not move out pre-grown plants until the risk of frost during the night is over.
  • Harden off the plants – before you move them outside, you need to slowly get the plant used to the new climate, which can mean both rain, sun and wind. By moving the plants outside for short periods at first and then increasing the time for one to two weeks, they get a chance to get used to the new outdoor climate.
  • Fiber cloth – please protect the plant with a fiber cloth for the first few days.
