Six Chatham-Kent residents and a Windsor man were arrested and charged in connection to approximately $9,000 worth of suspected drugs being seized Monday night by Chatham-Kent police.
Members of the intelligence section, assisted by the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant on Colborne Street in Chatham as part of a drug investigation, police said.
Suspected drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, hydromorphone, oxycodone, lorazepam and clonazepam were seized for analysis, police said.
Police also seized digital scales, packing material, cell phones and a large amount of Canadian currency.
A 39-year-old Highgate woman was charged with seven counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
A 38-year-old Chatham woman faces five counts of possession a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with an undertaking.
A 30-year-old Dover Township woman, and three Chatham men, age 30, 42 and 54, were all charged with five counts of possession a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
A 57-year-old Windsor man was charged with one count of possessing a controlled substance and arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Six of the seven accused were released with conditions and a future court date. The 54-year-old Chatham man made his first appearance in court and was recommended for a future court date, police said.

A 48-year-old Walpole Island man was taken into custody Wednesday after Chatham-Kent police responded to Canada Post on Wellington Street in Wallaceburg for an unwanted person call.
Police arrived and located the man a short distance away and confirmed he was on numerous release orders with condition not to attend that address.
The accused was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.
