Seven dead after plane crash in Chile

Seven people have died in a plane crash in southern Chile on Friday, the country’s civil aviation authority says.

Contact was lost with the small plane, which was of the Piper Navajo type, shortly after it took off from the city of Coyhaique. The pilot and all six passengers died in the crash.

It is still unclear what caused the accident, which will now be investigated by local authorities.
