Seven aid workers dead after airstrikes in Gaza

Late on Monday, there were reports of the aid workers’ deaths. During Tuesday, AP wrote that there were pictures of the bodies from a hospital in Gaza. Several of the dead bodies are said to have worn the aid organization’s logo on their clothing.

The organization confirms that the dead are from the UK, Poland, Australia, Palestine and the US/Canada (dual citizenship).

“Should never be targets”

The aid workers were traveling in three cars with the organization’s logo when the attack occurred. This after they left 100 tons of food and organized their journey with the Israeli military, the organization writes in a press release.

“This is not only an attack on WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations that help in the most urgent situations where food is used as a weapon. This is inexcusable,” says the organization’s CEO Erin Gore.

World Central Kitchen is the organization behind the attention-grabbing ships with food to Gaza.

It has not been possible to confirm who is behind the attack. The Israeli military will conduct an internal investigation into the incident, AP writes.

SVT has sought World Central Kitchen, which refers to its press release.
