This week, a 23-year-old Palestinian man was killed when Israeli settlers stormed a West Bank village.
8-year-old Dima Arman survived the attacks and wonders what the settlers are up to.
– They shouldn’t behave like this, what have we done to them?, says Dima Arman.
During Thursday, the village of Jit in the occupied West Bank was stormed by Israeli settlers.
More than 70 people are said to have participated in the attack, where they fired bullets and tear gas at several homes. The settlers also set fire to several homes, cars and other properties in the area.
23-year-old Rashid Sedda, was killed in connection with the attacks.
– We have had attacks before, but not at this level. We have never seen anything like this before, says village councilor Nasser Sedda, cousin of the killed Rashid Sedda, reports CNN.
Strongly criticized from several quarters
The attack by the settlers has been met with strong criticism both inside and outside of Israel.
In a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s staff, the attacks are condemned, and Netanyahu is said to view the incident with “extreme severity”.
The EU’s foreign affairs chief, Joseph Borrell, says that the aim of the attack was to “terrorize Palestinian civilians”.
“Day after day, under almost total impunity, Israeli settlers are fueling violence in the occupied West Bank and jeopardizing all possibilities for peace,” writes Borell on X.
18 dead after attack on warehouse in Gaza
Meanwhile, the war in Gaza continues. During Saturday, 18 people were killed after they sought shelter in a building that was bombed in Zawaida. The dead must have come from the same family and most must have been children, according to AP.
The building must have been a warehouse, where more than 40 civilians sought shelter, according to a neighbor. The Israeli military claims it struck “terrorist infrastructure”, where rockets were reportedly fired at Israel in the near future.
The attack came just hours after mediators said they were optimistic about a ceasefire in the near future.
