Our 1st guests Saodaj arrive from the southern hemisphere, Reunion Island, to present their first album laz ».

If Reunion is a crossroads where the cultures of the world meet, Saodaj could be one of its symbols. A music that questions, through the Creole and French language, the beauties and excesses of our world.

After 300 concerts in Reunion and abroad, Marie Lanfroy, Jonathan Itema and their group devote themselves to the realization of their first album: laz (age in Reunion Creole).

After a lifetime of travel, Marie Lanfroy finds his native Reunion. Going from kabar to kabar, the one who had so few memories of her island discovers the Maloya in which she immerses herself completely. Then we welcome Guyanese flautist Yann Cléry for his new album Yann Solo.

Yann Clery.

Yann Cléry, Guyanese flautist and singer who we have already seen alongside Mo’Kalamity or within Chlorine Free, embarks on a solo adventure, soberly titled Yann Solo. Nothing to do here with a space opera, even if like a Jedi, Yann wields his laser flute with dexterity and skillfully tames the machines that accompany him in this musical production which offers us 12 exceptional titles. From the first opening track, he announces the color with the anthem “Afropunk”. Because that’s where his roots come from: afro in the affirmation of his creoleness, and definitely punk in the soul and the energy he deploys. The rest of the album is subtly refined and asserts itself in sound nuances. Reggae dancehall with ” Starter » on which Queen Omega puts her voice as a guest, French touch with accents of electropical pop with titles like « Eva ” which speaks of filiation, “ French Accent ” Or ” let’s stay good friends ” which turn in self-mockery a very French arrogance or a romantic separation, trip hop with the sublime “ kind of blues », a little gem worthy of the best hours of Massive Attack, or ragga-jungle with « stop racism » and the energetic « Furious Dancehall “. Peregrinations that also take us on a “Voyage en flutisie”, because Yann is also an accomplished jazz musician who handles his instrument with virtuosity, summoning the elements “Water” and “Fire », during interludes that punctuate the album or addressing the « Wind and Moon » to conclude this opus. A disc created between Paris and Guyana and mixed in London in a sound-system spirit with big English bass highlighted and voices treated as instruments. To be stored somewhere in his ideal playlist, between Asian Dub, Tricky, Dowdelin, David Walters or Roots Manuva…

Yann Clery.

Alone on stage, he deploys an energy and a sensuality that leaves no one indifferent and proves to be explosive in his new project. Yann Solo. One would almost believe that there are several of them, an electro man-orchestra tamer of machines, he sings, plays the flute and builds his music based on live sampled loops and live triggered programming, splitting into multiple clones, we leading in its sound loops in an energetic sound system between ragga, hip hop, soul and jazz improvisation. A “Nèg Marron with attitude”, a kind of “Guyane Dub Foundation” all by itself, a cartoon character à la Gorillaz…: it’s a bit of all of this at the same time that emerges from this show, ready to ignite the dance floors!
