Serverdown for Update 7.2.0.1 – Start of Season 22

Today the new Season 22 starts in Destiny 2, in which the Keepers will once again meet the Witch Queen, or what is left of her, to see if she can help them in the fight against the witness. But before that happens, we have to draw your attention to a longer server down.

What you need to know today: Today, the virtual battlefields in Destiny 2 will be shrouded in shadow for an extended period of time to make room for the new to unfold. The new Season 22 is already in the starting blocks.

However, today’s server down is a bit different, because Bungie will sweeten the downtime from 5:00 p.m. with a big showcase for “The Final Form”. All information about this, the exact times, links and twitch drops can be found in this article: Destiny 2: Everything about the DLC “The Final Form” from 2024

While most of the details of The Final Form DLC are still unknown, there is already more information out about Lightfall Season 22.

  • Season 22 will feature another new Lightfall DLC story mission and seasonal activities.
  • The structure of Season 22 will also be fundamentally changed, and the ritual playlists will be optimized.
  • An exo-mission rotator is coming into play, which will feature new craftable exo-weapons.
  • But that was not all. We have summarized the remaining details of Season 22 in this list so that you know what to expect. There you can also see the seasonal armor.

Maintenance on 08/22 – All times to the server down

These times are important today: Bungie has informed players of the exact times via Twitter. The planned downtime is currently 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Here is the exact maintenance schedule:

  • Background maintenance starts at 3:00 p.m. on all platforms.
  • Around 4:15 p.m. the servers go offline. Players are automatically kicked out of the game.
  • During the downtime, Bungie will launch Season 22 Update 7.2.0.1. It will be rolled out gradually so that players on all platforms can download it.
  • From 5:00 p.m. the broadcast of the showcase will start and after 30 minutes of watching you can get an emblem as a twitch drop.
  • The new season 22 should start at 7:00 p.m.
  • The maintenance will then continue until 8:00 p.m., but only in the background.
  • Important: As long as the background maintenance is running, there can always be connection problems in the game. In addition, the update and the start of the new Season 22 may result in longer login times today. So you may have to expect queues when logging in.

Also, keep in mind that third-party applications and the official companion app may also not be accessible correctly for a while, preventing you from using them. We therefore recommend making the character you want to start Season 22 with ready before the downtime.

This changes with Update 7.2.0.1 in Season 22

These are the new armors of Season 22

That brings the update 7.2.0.1 today: In addition to the new content, the update will also contain technical changes. This is how Bungie will deal with the 7.2 updates focused on identifying and fixing current stability issues.

  • Bungie will begin internal “chaos testing” of the new code it has added to make further improvements and validate current bug fixes planned for Season 22 and beyond.
  • Otherwise, these things are still on the targeted list of known problems:

  • Certain Honored Centurions in the Gilded Commandment Lost Sector are unusually bright.
  • The Compass Rose shotgun does not appear in Collections.
  • The Lord of the Wolves exotic shotgun does not have a hipfire reticle.
  • The Last Word handgun is missing the magazine, as are some Wardens missing the knuckles.
  • There is a switch bug in weapons that causes sniper rifles to fire like machine guns and trace rifles to reload like sniper rifles.
  • Player name changes are not infinitely customizable through bungie.net. Several “Number Guardians” continue to wait here for the option to change their player name again, instead of getting the “You don’t have any name changes available” message.
  • If you know of other bugs in the game that are not listed here, please feel free to share them in our comments section.

Also note: With the start of the new season, the collected merchant engrams will be reset. That means you have to pick up your engrams that may still be stored there before downtime and convert them into material or take them to your vault. Otherwise they will be lost.

Will reset: Crucible, Vanguard, Trials, Gambit, Champion, Clan
Remains: Strategy table, sonar station, iron banner, inventory
Not clear: Destination Vendors (Failsafe, Eris, etc.), Cryptarch Rahool, and Xur (Eternity)

If you have not yet completely cleared out the old Season Pass for Season 19, you can only do so until today at 4:15 p.m. via your profile on the Bungie website.
