Destiny 2 has had an increasing number of server issues this week. The developer wanted to fix these and other difficulties today, in a background maintenance lasting several hours. But what should actually go unnoticed and without a server down is currently causing the servers to be offline. MeinMMO keeps you up to date.
10:22 am: Bungie just changed the status of the background maintenance to an emergency maintenance. Another update on the issues should be provided within an hour.
10:00 a.m: Now, if everything had gone as planned, Bungie would have ended background maintenance again. But the servers are still offline – nobody can gamble. It was announced via Twitter that the login problems with Destiny 2 are still being investigated and players should be ready for updates.
09:03 am: Bungie is aware of the issue that players are currently unable to log into Destiny 2. “Weasel” error codes continue to appear.
08:00: Background maintenance has just started. Shortly thereafter, however, the servers could no longer be reached. Bungie asks for your patience while they investigate the issue.
What you need to know today: Destiny 2 players have been facing various error codes over the past few days that have thrown them out of the game and severely impacted their gameplay time. This led to frustration and dissatisfaction in the community.
Bungie has responded and decided to address these issues today, June 8th, with a multi-hour background maintenance.
However, what should only happen in the background, i.e. without the Destiny 2 servers having to be temporarily switched offline, did not work as planned. Currently you cannot log into the game. The servers are not available – and today is a public holiday in some parts of Germany.
MeinMMO will therefore continue to inform you in this article about the current state of affairs and will tell you when you can gamble again.
Background maintenance on 08.06. – All times to the server down
These times are important today: Early today Bungie informed players that they are planning a background maintenance.
Destiny 2 will be undergoing a full day backend maintenance in 2 hours from today. Once the maintenance has started, players can click “Orbit” after the activity is complete, returning to the title screen. Players who log back in should not expect any further interruptions.

Here is the exact maintenance schedule:
Also, keep in mind that third-party applications and the official companion app may also not be accessible correctly for a while, preventing you from using them.
Background maintenance causes server down
Destiny 2 is currently offline: However, the background troubleshooter doesn’t seem to be working as intended. Because instead of the short impairments, the Destiny servers have not been available since 08:00 a.m.
While temporarily not having access to the game can be frustrating, it’s important to remember that this maintenance is ultimately intended to result in a more stable and smooth gaming experience.
MeinMMO will keep you informed about the progress and updates related to the background maintenance and will tell you when the servers of the loot shooter will be back online. We therefore recommend that players check back regularly to stay informed of the current status.
