Destiny 2 will bring a new update online today. To this end, the servers will go offline on January 24th for Hotfix 6.3.0.5 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC. As always, we are right in the middle of it and will keep you up to date with all the important information.

What you need to know today: Bungie is gearing up for the upcoming major expansion. While several background maintenances have already been carried out, there is another downtime today, during which you cannot gamble.

Hotfix 6.3.0.5 update history:

9:20 p.m.: Bungie just announced that the servers will remain offline until further notice while investigating possible indications of missing Triumphs, Seals, and Catalysts. However, a timeline will be provided to bring Destiny back online once this information becomes available. So players are currently unable to log in and it is still unknown when this will be possible again.

8:30 p.m.: The servers are still offline. Stay tuned for updates.

8:15 p.m.: Another note: For players who have reported that they are still getting blues. This upgrade will only be released later today, i.e. in Germany during the night. Starting tomorrow, the flood of blue engrams should decrease significantly and be replaced by a smoldering shower.

8:00 p.m.: As Bungie has just announced via Twitter, Destiny 2 will soon have to go offline again due to the Triumph bug. How long the downtime will be is not yet known. However, during this time, efforts will be made to fix the issue that is causing certain Triumphs, Seals, and Catalysts to lose progress for players. A roll-back is not out of the question! We will keep you up to date.

19:30 o’clock: The patch notes are now available. We’ll link them to you further down in the article.

6:30 p.m.: The update had Triumph hiccups. Bungie is investigating an issue where progress was unintentionally reset on multiple Triumphs, potentially removing earned Seals from players. We are already in the process of fixing this.

6:00 p.m.: Bungie just completed maintenance. Players can now download the update. On the PC it is 104.5 MB. As soon as the patch notes follow, we will inform you.

5:45 p.m.: The maintenance work will start immediately. Players will be removed from ongoing activities accordingly. Destiny 2 is now offline.

These times are important today: Bungie’s update routine is short and sweet. So the effective downtime will still only be 15 minutes today (via. bungie.net). The announced schedule is as follows:

  • From 5:45 p.m. the servers will go offline and you will be automatically kicked out of all activities.
  • The servers are scheduled to come back online around 6:00 p.m. and update 6.3.0.5 will be rolled out for all platforms. After the download you can log back into the game.
  • Continuous background maintenance will then officially end at 7:00 p.m. if everything goes smoothly.
  • Important: Even if you have downloaded the update and are back in-game, you may experience connection issues until the end of maintenance at 7:00 p.m. You may also have to expect queues when logging in.

Also, keep in mind that third-party applications and the official companion app may not be properly accessible for a while after the update.

This changes with Hotfix 6.3.0.5 in Season 19

That brings the hotfix today: There is still work to be done to fix the old DLC problems. In addition, Bungie is currently heavily involved in the community offensive. In 2023 you want to use more direct ways to better and faster implement the feedback from your players and get feedback.

Additionally, Patch 6.3.0.5, releasing today January 24th, will bring into play some ability changes that Bungie tested in Lightfall to fix some outliers in both PvE and PvP.

MeinMMO lists some of the issues that Bungie is already aware of and some that our readers have pointed out:

  • Console players are sometimes invisible or unable to see their weapon.
  • The progression of the exotic mission “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” cannot always be triggered. Players will then no longer be able to turn off the scanner buff and will have to start over.
  • Players cannot complete the objective in Operation: Sanctus. To work around this, players should restart the mission, move more slowly, and wait for Rasputin to finish his dialogue before proceeding to the next area of activity.
  • Players cannot continue the Reshaping the Enigma quest past step 6, nor other weaponcrafting quests.
  • Bounty acquisition through the Destiny Companion app is noticeably slower than desired.
  • Player name changes are not customizable through bungie.net. Players are still waiting for the option to change their player name multiple times instead of just once.
  • The Hierarchy of Claims exotic dungeon arc does not properly penetrate Hydra or Phalanx shields when combined with the Piercing Bowstring artifact armor mod.
  • If you encounter any other issues with the game, it is recommended that you report them directly to the official Bungie Help forums to bring them to the attention of the developers. Alternatively, you can leave us a comment if you are aware of other bugs in the game.
