The alarm came at 9:16 p.m. on Friday.
— We do not know to what extent they have collided or what has happened, we only know that they are standing on the road and burning. It is burning very violently and it is explosions from the vehicles that make it difficult to go forward at the moment. It’s pressure tanks and tires that pop, says police spokesperson Lars Hedelin.
The police have no information about injured persons in connection with the accident.
“We can confirm that it is a serious accident,” says Hedelin.
According to the police, it is a biogas bus.
Even SOS Alarm, which manages the Nerike fire brigade’s press service, calls it a “serious accident”. The emergency services have five units on site, as well as an ambulance.
— When the emergency services arrive, we get confirmation that it is a county bus that is on fire. They choose to keep their distance, because of any gas bottles that may be on the bus, says Moa Artursson, team leader at SOS Alarm.
She says that the emergency services were unable to do more than cool down the bus.
The bus belongs to Svealandstrafiken, which is jointly owned by Region Örebro County and Region Västmanland.
Therese Triumf, communications manager at Länstrafiken Örebro, says that there were no passengers on board besides the driver.
— It was an empty bus, and the driver was on his way back to the depot. We don’t know much more but refer to the police, says Triumf.
